Running through the wind for Good Company

Yesterday was one of those mornings where the wind makes you question your life choices.

And yet, four brilliant runners showed up and took on the Brighton and Hove 10k for Good Company.

Iola from CooperBurnett flew round in just over 45 minutes, with Charlotte, Lesley and Oscar from Team Aspen all coming in at around the one hour mark. An incredible achievement, especially in those conditions.

Between them, they have already raised over £2,500, and with match funding from Aspen, that takes the total to more than £4,000 for Good Company. Donations are still coming in.

What made the day feel particularly special was what sat behind it.

For Iola, this was more than just a race. As a trainee solicitor at CooperBurnett, she was running as part of the firm’s newly announced charity partnership with The Good Company People. This 10k marked the first fundraising moment in what we hope will be a meaningful and long term relationship.

She shared before the event:

“I am really excited to be running the Brighton and Hove 10k to raise funds for The Good Company People. As a trainee solicitor at CooperBurnett, I am especially proud to be supporting the charity through this challenge. This marks the first of our fundraising events, making it an exciting milestone for us all. I’m looking forward to helping kick off what we hope will be a successful and impactful fundraising journey.”

Alongside that, Charlotte, Lesley and Oscar were running as part of Team Aspen, continuing a partnership that has become an important part of Good Company over the past few years.

Aspen have not only funded key parts of our work, including the Concierge service, but have consistently shown up in a very human way. Whether that is through their teams taking part in events like this, supporting conversations within their own organisation, or helping us think about how we grow, their involvement has always been practical, thoughtful and ongoing.

Seeing both a new partnership beginning with CooperBurnett and a longstanding one continuing with Aspen, all within the same morning, felt like a real reflection of what Good Company is about. Relationships that build over time, and people choosing to get involved in ways that feel personal.

We are so grateful to everyone who ran, donated, and supported along the way. Events like this are not just about the distance or the finish line. They are about people choosing to do something challenging to support others, and bringing a wider community with them.

Now that the doors of Good Company HQ are open, we need to keep raising funds to keep it running. This support helps us make sure it is there for the community every day.

If you were part of it in any way, thank you. It really does make a difference.
