What we do

We help people feel more like themselves again.

The Good Company People is a dementia-welcoming charity offering support, activities and conversation that make everyday life feel possible again.

We work with older adults, carers, and people living with dementia or facing changes in how they think, feel or live day to day. Some are navigating a new diagnosis. Some are just feeling unsure or disconnected. Others are looking for people who simply understand.

We’re not here to fix, label or rush anyone. We start with kindness, curiosity and a cup of tea.

How can we help you?

The Good Company People is a dementia-inclusive community organisation offering practical help, friendly groups and one-to-one support for people growing older. We believe ageing should still mean growing together.

Whether you want to try something new, meet others who understand, or simply talk about what might help - support starts with a conversation.

Come along to a relaxed, sociable group in a familiar place like a local pub or café. Share a chat, take part in an activity, or just enjoy the company. Everyone is welcome.

Talk to someone who can help you understand what is available, make sense of information, and feel more confident about your choices. We can point you to the right local services and support.

Conversation Form

Support Starts with a Conversation

If you live in the High Weald area, we’ll come and visit for a friendly chat about what matters to you. It helps us understand your interests and find the right support,

clubs or connections.

Just fill in the form and we’ll be in touch.

Our work wouldn’t be possible without our amazing volunteers. From hosting clubs to offering one-to-one support, they’re at the heart of what we do.

Every volunteer receives high-quality training in dementia awareness, inclusive communication, and safeguarding, and many bring their own lived experience of caring or growing older in East Sussex.

We believe good support starts with the right people and we’re proud to walk alongside a team who show up every week with warmth, care and curiosity.

At The Heart of Good Company

We believe support starts with connection, not a tick-box or a referral, but someone taking the time to listen.

At The Good Company People, we help older adults, carers and people living with dementia or cognitive changes feel more at home in their lives. Whether it's memory, mood, communication or decision-making, we offer simple support that feels human.

Our work happens in everyday places (cafés, pubs, halls and gardens) with people who care. We’re not here to assess or fix. Just to walk alongside you, with warmth and steadiness.

“In modern life we so often over complicate things but behind The Good Company People is a perfectly simple (and simply perfect) concept. That time spent with friendly people is good for us.

This is no wild claim; the scientific evidence fully supports it – chatting with friends, building strong supportive relationships, sharing interests and passions all deliver positive emotional, mental and physical health outcomes.”
