We are delighted to share that last Thursday’s Sing & Tonic fundraiser raised a remarkable £2,400 for Good Company, making it the largest amount ever raised for charity in the choir’s history.
Led by Sue Burnett and Katherine Crowley, Sing & Tonic has been a much-loved part of Crowborough life for over 15 years. A fun and friendly choir open to all, it began with just over 40 singers and now brings together more than 70 members, many of whom are part of our Good Company community.
Each June, the choir hosts its Annual Summer Concert with a retiring collection for a charity chosen by its members. This year’s concert, themed around “Going Places,” was full of uplifting music, joy, generosity and beautiful voices. The programme included folk tunes, film themes, Beatles favourites, songs from musicals and even a classic opera classic.
Sue said this:
Katherine and I have been working together with all kinds of music for over 30 years, and firmly believe that singing is good for you - both physically and mentally. This is what Sing & Tonic is all about; we describe ourselves as the choir for people who like singing in the shower, and we focus on having fun singing together. We know we speak for all the choir when we say that those who have, at one time or another, arrived at a rehearsal feeling more than a little frazzled, have gone home feeling so much better. We all find that singing takes us away to places far beyond our cares and woes!
As our CEO Lucy shared:
“We’re thrilled that Thursday’s incredible Sing & Tonic fundraiser raised £2,400, the largest sum ever raised for charity in the choir’s history. Many of the singers are part of our community, and the evening was full of joy, generosity and beautiful voices. This was by far our biggest community fundraising event to date. Thank you all.”
The money raised will go directly towards helping older adults across East Sussex stay connected, supported and included, especially those living with dementia or going through major life changes.
Thank you
To Sue, Katherine and every member of the choir, thank you for your warmth, your music and your incredible support. You have helped make a real and lasting difference.

If you are part of a local group or club and want to support Good Company, we would love to hear from you. Fundraising events, big or small, help keep our work going and remind people they are not alone.
Why singing matters
Singing together is about more than just music. Group singing has been shown to boost mood, reduce stress and support memory and communication.
For people living with dementia, music can tap into long-held memories and emotions, helping to create moments of connection and joy. For carers and older adults, it offers a chance to switch off, breathe deeply and feel part of something shared.
Events like Sing & Tonic are a perfect reminder that being part of a community and raising your voice in song can lift everyone’s spirits.
