The Know-How
Taking Time for Yourself
When you support someone else, your own needs often come last. Many carers tell us they keep going until they feel exhausted, low or unwell, because stopping does not feel like an option.
Taking time for yourself is not about treats, positivity or doing more. It is about having enough energy, headspace and resilience to cope with everyday life.
This section brings together practical information and lived experience from people who understand how hard it can be. You will find ideas about rest, breaks, boundaries and support that are realistic, not idealised.

There is no expectation that you “do self-care properly”. This is about finding small, workable ways to look after yourself in the middle of everything else.
