Out and about in our community

It has been a wonderfully busy few weeks for The Good Company People, with our members and volunteers enjoying activities, meeting new people and helping more people discover Good Company across the local community.
Our volunteers had a fantastic day at Eridge Fair, where we spoke to lots of people about our clubs, activities and volunteering opportunities. Despite the exceptionally hot weather, the team received a wonderfully warm welcome and signed up several potential new volunteers.

We were also delighted to welcome the Deputy Mayor of Crowborough, Councillor Peter Bucklitsch, who stopped by to say hello and even enjoyed a cuddle with one of our Clucks!
Elsewhere, the Singing for Fun choir held a brilliant community concert, supported by our volunteers, which raised more than £1,000 for Good Company. We are enormously grateful to everyone who performed, helped during the evening, donated or came along to support us.

Could you help us at a community event?
Community events give us an important opportunity to meet local people, find new volunteers, raise vital funds and make sure more people know about the friendship and support available through Good Company.
We are looking for friendly volunteers who could occasionally give a few hours to help us at fairs, festivals, fundraisers and other local events.
Depending on the event, this could include:
Welcoming visitors and telling them about Good Company
Helping to set up or tidy away
Serving refreshments
Running a raffle, tombola or information stall
Baking cakes or donating raffle prizes
Sharing event information in the local community

You do not need any special experience. There will always be other members of the Good Company team there to support you. To find out more or offer your help, please contact community@thegoodcompanypeople.org

Visitors can explore the garden and enjoy coffee, tea and cakes, a Pimm’s tent and live music from members of The Little Big Band.
Please be aware that the garden includes steps, slopes and uneven surfaces.
Come along, enjoy a summer afternoon in a beautiful setting and help support the work of The Good Company People.

Save the date: Good Company cricket match
We will also be returning to Rotherfield Cricket Club on Sunday 30 August for the annual Good Company cricket match.
Last year’s event was a wonderful afternoon of cricket, food, laughter and community spirit, raising £1,043 through donations and the raffle. Members, volunteers, families and local supporters came together at the ground, including people who had played for Rotherfield Cricket Club many years before.
This year, we would love the day to be every bit as special.
We will be looking for volunteers and local businesses to help with areas such as refreshments, cakes, raffle prizes, setting up and tidying away. More information will follow soon, but please save the date and contact community@thegoodcompanypeople.org to register your interest in helping.
Sunday 30 August 2026 Rotherfield Cricket Club Everyone welcome
