Crowhurst Short Mat Bowls Club raises £500 for our HQ

From Lucy Buck, CEO.

I spent a really fantastic afternoon at the annual Charity Triples organised by Crowhurst Short Mat Bowls Club, where twenty teams gathered to compete for the Daphne Groome Memorial Trophy.

There was a real sense of warmth and tradition in the room, with familiar faces, friendly rivalry, and plenty of laughter alongside the serious bowling. It was a privilege to be there representing The Good Company People and to be so warmly welcomed by the club.

I had the chance to share our plans for the launch of The Monday Bowls Club and the opening of Good Company HQ, and the response was genuinely heartening. People were curious, encouraging, and keen to understand how the new space will support connection and activity in the community.

Through match fees and a raffle, the club raised an amazing £500 towards doing up the HQ. On top of that, one of the players, who runs a bathroom business in Crowborough, very generously offered to donate a bathroom for the space. Moments like this remind me again and again just how strong and kind the Crowborough community is.

From beginning to end, it was a very special afternoon and a brilliant example of community spirit in action.

There a lot to do to get Crowborough HQ ready to open, from finishing the building work to making sure the space is warm, accessible, and easy to use.
