Stay safe and supported: the Priority Services Register

If you or someone you support is over 60, has a health condition, lives with dementia, relies on medical equipment, or would struggle during a power or water cut, it’s worth joining the Priority Services Register.

The Priority Services Register is a free scheme run by utility companies. It lets them know that someone in the household may need extra help if there’s a problem with electricity, gas or water.

Being on the register can mean:

  • advance notice and priority updates during outages

  • communication in a format that works for you, such as large print, Braille or translated information

  • extra support if someone relies on electricity for medical equipment

  • welfare or doorstep checks in longer outages

  • bottled water deliveries if supplies are interrupted

  • a password scheme so you can check the identity of engineers who visit your home

It’s free to join and does not affect your bills.

You can register yourself, or someone you care for.
