There has been a huge amount of activity behind the scenes at Good Company HQ over the past few months. What was once an empty former pharmacy in Crowborough is now rapidly becoming a welcoming space for the community.
We are now very close to the finish line.

A remarkable effort from volunteers
An enormous amount of work has gone into transforming the building.
Over the past few months the old pharmacy has been dismantled, walls have been moved and rebuilt, the kitchen and bathroom have been installed, the ceiling has been replaced, and the electrics have been completely rewired.
The plasterers have now been in and the space is almost ready for painting.
Seeing the rooms take shape has been quite something.
A space beginning to take shape
The transformation has been remarkable.
The bathroom and kitchen are now installed and the Howdens kitchen is looking lovely. Tiles have been ordered and the carpet colour will be decided shortly so that everything can be fitted before the end of the month.
There have also been important milestones along the way, including the installation of the fire door and receiving Building Regulations approval.
At the weekend we discovered that Crown Paints has a colour that is almost exactly the same as the Good Company orange, which felt like a very good sign.
What HQ will be used for
When HQ opens, it will become a welcoming base for Good Company in Crowborough.
The space will provide a regular drop in point where people can come for a cup of tea, find out what is happening locally, and ask for help or advice if they need it.
It will also be used for smaller clubs and circles, volunteer meet ups, training sessions and one to one conversations with members of the Good Company team.
For many people, the hardest part of finding support is simply knowing where to go. HQ will make that easier by providing a visible and friendly place in the town where people know they can walk through the door and be welcomed.
It takes a village
What makes this project even more special is the generosity behind it.
The time, skill and practical help offered by volunteers, alongside the support of local businesses and partners, has already saved the charity around £50,000 in building and renovation costs.
Good Company has always been built on the idea that community happens when people step forward to help one another. HQ is becoming a physical example of that spirit.
We are incredibly grateful to the businesses and foundations that have supported the project so far.

The Good Company HQ wish list
The renovation has only been possible thanks to generous gifts in kind and practical support.
So far, contributions and funding have helped cover essential building work and equipment, including electrical wiring, lighting, insulation, partitions, building materials, air conditioning and labour.
Some major items have been donated, including kitchen units, an accessible toilet, plastering materials, building regulation plans and laptops that will be used by the Good Company team and volunteers.
The total spent so far on renovation costs is £12,353.19.
👉 If you or your business might be able to help with materials, equipment or sponsorship, we would love to hear from you. 👉 You can also support the project with a one off or regular donation to help us complete and equip the space. Donate here.
Looking ahead
As the final stages of the renovation come together, we are getting closer to opening the doors.
Soon this space will be a place where people can drop in for a cup of tea, attend clubs and circles, ask for support, or simply spend time in good company.
It is exciting to see the vision turning into something real.
When the doors finally open, there will definitely be a moment to raise a glass and thank everyone who helped make it happen.
