Our People - Kate Barnes, Lunch Club Host

Updated: Aug 25

Why did you join Good Company?

I enjoy meeting new people and having moved to the area during Covid it's been quite tricky, so this way is the best of both worlds, I get to support people living with dementia and their families.

What is your professional background?

I trained at Hotel and Catering School in Norwich and started working for a large international facilities company when I left college providing services at theatres, schools, hospitals, race courses, stadiums, police and MOD sites.

What does Good Company mean to you?

The name really says it all - the meeting of like minded good people, in good company who enjoy the social activities in the local area. I think we all take and add something positive from and to the experience.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I am a keen amateur gardener, like a bit of cooking and baking but most of my time revolves around our family dogs who are a joy and a challenge in equal measure!

How would your friends describe you?

Outgoing, a good organiser and someone to be relied on.

Can you share something interesting that not many people know about you?

In my really early catering career I worked in London at Wembley Stadium (the old one), Lords and Oval Cricket Grounds (still down understand cricket scoring!) and The Royal Festival Hall, Cheltenham for Gold Cup, Aintree for the Grand National and lots of other racecourses and theatres around the country.

What's your favourite cake?

Lemon Drizzle.
